We are rapidly approaching the months when you'll likely do more indoor operation, so it's time to have those outdoor antenna changes completed before winter sets in. Elections will be held at the regular business meeting in November, so please consider who you'd like to see in those positions and nominate them for office. If you want to run or nominate someone for office, please let Marty Peters know. The duties for each position are described in our Constitution. Select the menu item "About Us/Club Info & Docs" and click "The Constitution" in the first paragraph .
The instructors for our yearly class will begin planning and creating presentations for the General Class that will be held at the Salvation Army in Olathe during January and February 2025. If you are looking to upgrade your license to General, or if you are already a General and want to have a refresher on the content, this class is a great opportunity for you. Our club website will feature a Class Registration form and a flyer later in November (See the "About Us/Ham Classes/Class Registration" menu item).
Don't forget that FCC Part 97 of the regulations describes Amateur Radio as a "Service" to the public for voluntary noncommercial communication, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications. Amateur radio operators continue to be very busy during the recovery from the recent hurricanes in the southeast. Join ARES, SATERN, ECS or other groups to prepare and serve. Some interesting articles are available that may help you understand possible responses for disasters in our area. All of the following links are courtesy of: The ARRL Letter for October 2024.
