The first step in becoming a ham is typically to attend a class offered by a local amateur radio club. The Santa Fe Trail Amateur Club (SFTARC) offers classes to assist individuals in obtaining an FCC license required to become a Ham. The typical first step is to obtain a Technician Class FCC License.
SFTARC offers one class yearly, beginning in January, in the following sequence; Technician, General and Extra. Online registration via web site will typically begin in November.
