As fate would have it apparently, the American Radio Relay League's Field Day 2024 will get underway the very same day Marshall Ensor, 9BSP/W9BSP/W0BSP, would have turned 125 were he still with us, and members of the Santa Fe Trail Amateur Radio Club will be participating in this popular annual event as they join with fellow hams from across the country in fine-tuning their diverse communication skills for possible use in a future emergency.
The ARRL has chosen the quasi-directive "Be Radio Active" as the theme for this year's Field Day, which is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. And the seasoned operators of the SFTARC intend to do just that over the two-day period as they strive to make as many contacts as possible through multiple modes and under the club call sign of KSØKS.
Members of the club are encouraged to converge on Ensor Park and Museum, 18995 W. 183rd Street, the morning of Friday, June 21 to help with the set-up for Field Day activities. After all, "many hands make light work," as they say. At any rate, the doing of whatever needs to get done will start at 9 AM and potentially continue until about 11:30 AM on Saturday June 22. Field Day operation will begin around 1 PM on Saturday.
Information about the club's involvement in ARRL Field Day 2024 will appear in the June newsletter and on the Club Calendar at https://sftarc.org. So stay tuned and DON'T touch that dial!
