SFTARC Christmas Party 2021

The time was the evening of Saturday, December 11, the place the Garden Senior Citizen Community Center, and the occasion the 2021 Santa Fe Trail Amateur Radio Club Christmas Party.

More than 15 people gathered in downtown Gardner for the annual year-end event, where those present enjoyed meats prepared by Smokey Hill Catering's Tony Johnson, KD0KLD, and a variety of side dishes furnished by other members of the club.

Marty Peters, KE0PEZ, used the opportunity to tell club members about the Ensor Park and Museum letters he has come across documenting Loretta Ensor's transpacific contact in the 1920s, which is an important part of the legacy of W9UA.

In the way of entertainment, Jim Andera, K0NK, manned the controls in showing four videos on the new screen at the west end of the main room, including footage Tom Apalenek, WA2IVD, shot during the special event Saturday, October 9 at Lone Elm Park in Olathe commemorating the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Santa Fe Trail. The other three presentations included a re-enactment of the Christmas story by some children, Jesus being "the reason for the season," as they say, and the ham radio version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
