For the third consecutive year the SFTARC will do a mini-DXpediton to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve near Strong City, KS. On Saturday, April 21, we will be setting up a couple of HF stations next to a historic three-story barn on the Preserve, with a goal of being on the air from 9:00 am to noon CDT. This Special Event Station will celebrate Junior Ranger Day which is sponsored by National Park Service personnel at the Tallgrass Preserve.
Using the club call sign of KS0KS and operating on frequencies of 18.145, 14.280, 10.118 and 7.245 MHz we will demonstrate ham radio to the Jr Rangers as well as to the public. Youth will have an opportunity to send their name in the Morse code as part of the day’s activities.
Club members traditionally travel to the Tallgrass in a caravan, leaving the Olathe area early on that Saturday. To sign up for the event or for more information, contact Jim Andera, K0NK, at
