Not one but two raffle tickets purchased by club Secretary-Treasurer Marty Peters, KE0PEZ, ultimately proved to be winning tickets during the Mine Creek Amateur Radio Club hamfest held Saturday, February 4 in downtown LaCygne.
The first of Marty's six tickets picked for a prize gained him a $50 coupon good for books and resources handled by the American Radio Relay League. And the second won him a $100 Alpha Antenna Prize good toward the purchase of any portable, base or mobile Alpha Antenna system as well as the book "Receiving Antennas for the Radio Amateur" by Eric P. Nichols, KL7AJ.
The hamfest in the Community Building got underway at 9 a.m. and wrapped up about three hours later with the drawing for the grand prize, $200 in cash. Those so inclined were able to enjoy biscuits and gravy and other breakfast items prepared by the cook in the kitchen.
Seven other members of the club joined Marty along Commercial Street for MCARC's first hamfest since the current pandemic started. They were President Jeff Darby, KS0JD, former President Greg Wolfe, KI0KK, Howard Cripe, N0AZ, Greg Sippel, K0GCS, Tom Apalenek, WA2IVD, Peg Nichols, KD0VQO, and myself.
