MEETING TO ORDER:

President Jeff KSØJD called to order the September, 2022, business meeting of the SFTARC at about 8:00 AM. A total of 13 members attended, with 10 members present at the Gardner Perkins and 3 members joining via Zoom. (Quorum is 13.)

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:

Marty KEØPEZ reported the bank balance and the transactions since the last meeting. Outlays for the month consisted of buying a battery for the trailer and buying food for the Kansas QSO Party operators and loggers. The club now has 80 members in good standing; 44 of them belong to ARRL.

QSL Card Checker [Jeff - KSØJD]

Marty volunteered to do card checking in ARRL's Kansas Section. Jeff will assist.

Ensor Special Event - September 10

The trailer was parked at Ensor. The club's IC-7300 was set up in the trailer and connected to the Ensor dipole antenna for the event.

Kansas QSO Party

This year's KQP was very successful. Operators and loggers at the SAF in Edgerton included Byron KI5GNH, Gil WAØYCY, Jeff KSØJD, Marty KEØPEZ, Bob KCØTZX, Woody KEØ0NTU, Tom WA2IVD, Del KØDDS, and Robert KCØKDG. Byron, visiting Gardner from his home in Texas, had joined the Saturday morning ragchew on the 27th and eagerly accepted the invitation to join the fun in Edgerton. He operated on both days of the event.

Jim ACØKN tried without success to get his antennas going in Lawrence. Howard NØAZ and Jeff KSØJD added FT8 and FT4 QSOs from their home transmitters. Eric KJØD had a remote link to the transceiver of Larry KDØRIU and operated as the 1x1 station W0E, making 507 contacts in all. He contacted all states except Alaska, 6 Canadian Provinces, and four other countries. After removing dupes, Eric's preliminary total score as a single-op CW station is 81,280. KSØKS made a total of 817 contacts, consisting of 523, 189, and 105 QSOs in the SSB, CW, and digital modes, respectively. Our operators contacted all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and 6 Canadian Provinces. Eleven other countries were contacted, including 4 European countries, 5 South American countries, Japan, and Puerto Rico. The preliminary score for KSØKS is 91,257.

There was a suggestion to make certificates of appreciation for Byron KI5GNH and Eric KJØD for their contributions to the Kansas QSO Party.

OTHER BUSINESS:

The order for club shirts with pockets is in progress. Several more orders were received during the meeting.

Peg suggested creating a new ham-radio event called "Hospitals On The Air" (HOTA). A discussion generated pros and cons regarding this idea.

The 2023 SFTARC Ham Class is now on the horizon. Planning should begin soon.

Don WAØJOW is downsizing and moving into Gardner. He announced that he will hold a sale on Oct 8 and 9. Items for sale include ham radio gear, test equipment, and odds and ends.

ADJOURN:

President Jeff adjourned the meeting at about 8:45 AM.
