MEETING TO ORDER:

President Jeff Darby, KSØJD, called to order the June, 2022, business meeting of the SFTARC at 8:00 AM. A total of 17 members attended, with 12 members present at the Gardner Perkins and 5 members joining via Zoom. (Quorum is 13.)

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:

Marty reported the bank balance and the transactions since the last meeting. Receipts during the past month were greater than usual because of sales of gear donated to the club. Disbursements were mostly to buy items for the trailer. The trailer upgrade is complete, and the total cost for the project was $860.32. The club now has 78 members in good standing; 43 of them belong to ARRL. SFTARC has been recognized as an ARRL Special Service Club. Marty received the certificate and banner from the ARRL and will invite Kansas Section Manager Ron Cowan KBØDTI to a club meeting to officially present them to President Jeff Darby, KSØJD.

The club welcomes new members Tiffani Timmons and Doug Prochnow KAØHKS.

Club Repeaters [Jim - KØNK]

Jim reached out to KC Heart to find out if any grants are available to help with repeater. There was additional discussion about grants that might be available from the ARRL. Jim and Jeff  will put together a grant request to submit to the ARRL by the June 30 deadline. Joe recommended focusing on emergency services to increase the likelihood of acceptance. There was discussion about putting a tower at Ensor. The biggest issue with tower is having someone maintain / climb tower. There was a discussion of the old King Radio bldg and its 80’ tower.

Club QSL Card Checkers [Jeff - KSØJD]

Jeff explained the duties of a ARRL Club Card Checker. At present there is only one in Kansas. Jeff asked if anyone would like to volunteer to be a Club Card Checker.

ARRL Matters [Jeff - KSØJD]

President Jeff reminded ARRL members that if they renew their ARRL membership through the club secretary, $2 of their renewal fee will go to the club. See Marty for details.

Field Day Planning [Greg - KIØKK]

Plans are progressing well. KSØKS will operate at the Ensor Park and Museum as class 3A with a GOTA station and a 6M/VHF/UHF station. There will be a greeter near the logging monitor set up outside the trailer. There was a motion and a second for the club to spend up to $100 for an HDMI blue-tooth adapter and a web cam. The motion passed without opposition. Marty will place an announcement about the SFTARC Field Day activities in Larry'sList. There was discussion of a number of related issues: 1) loggers are advised to be vigilant about changing bands and operators; 2) placement of the various stations; 3) meal planning; 4) set-up on Friday needs to begin as early as possible in the morning in order to finish before it gets hot; 5) Del will research price of flagpole antenna supports; timing of the visit to the Ensor site by Olathe Mayor John Bacon.

OTHER BUSINESS:

No other business.

ADJOURN:

President Jeff adjourned the meeting at about 8:53 AM.
