There were no disbursements. The Paypal account is active and working well. The are no disbursements scheduled for March or April, 2021.
A total of 57 members are paid up for 2021. If you haven't paid your membership dues yet, now is the time to get your payment to the club secretary.
We are recording contacts made by KSØKS at eQSL and LOTW. We are missing logs for Field Day and the KS QSO Party for 2018 and the Kansas Day event for 2019. If you happen to have a log for any of these events, please contact Marty.
Post-Covid Operating [Jeff Darby – KSØJD]
President Darby asked for comments and discussion about how the club would like to handle our Saturday morning meetings. Greg KIØKK suggested starting in-person breakfast meetings in April. Andrew liked the idea of alternating in-person and Zoom formats. Jeff pointed out that Zoom encourages participation by some members who do not attend the breakfasts. Greg suggested using the Zoom format for the Tech night might increase attendance enough to resume these.
When we resume in-person breakfasts, we will have to rethink the location. Possibilities include Gardner Perkins, Hy-Vee, Big Bear and First Watch. Jeff is going to send out an email asking for your preferences and suggestions for format, start time, and location of our Saturday morning gatherings, whether they be Zoom, in-person, or a mixture of the two.
2021 SFTARC Tech Class [Jeff - KSØJD]
The 2021 SFTARC Ham Class is now finished. Videos of the Tech class presentations are available at the SFTARC website via the "Class Videos" link in the Technician Class -2021 article. The Technician Class - 2021 article will be visible on the club web site until mid April, after which it will be available by request.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department has asked if it would be possible to set up another Tech Class this year for officers. Jeff is communicating with their contact person to see if a mutually acceptable arrangement can be made.
Field Day 2021 [Jeff – KSØJD]
It is time to make plans for ARRL Field Day 2021. Last year we operated two stations, one on the north porch and the other out in the front yard. There was a review of equipment and antennas that were used last year. We should assign duties now in order to have plenty of time to get ready. There was a consensus that SFTARC operate as 2A this year. We will have a dry run before the event to make sure issues are solved and everything is working properly. A work party for early April will be scheduled on a date to be announced.
2021 Ensor Special Events [Jeff - KSØJD]
Marshall Ensor received the 1940 Paley Award on June 2, 1941. The SFTARC would like to commemorate the 80th anniversary of this event by holding a special operating event at the Ensor Park & Museum on Saturday, June 5, 2021. There was a discussion of how to use this event as a dry run for Field Day, to be held later in June. Jeff will give notice of the event to QST and CQ. Joe KRØUT suggested holding a "tailgate" in the parking lot on that day. Such a tailgate would be a good opportunity to sell some of the many items that belonged to Jim Anderson ACØOW and an IC-746 that Ed Kurtz KUØRTZ has given the club.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Larry KDØRIU offered a good tip on how to avoid confusion on the air over the KSØKS callsign. He recommended using different phonetics for the prefix and suffix.
ADJOURN:
President Jeff adjourned the meeting at ~8:50 AM.
