MEETING TO ORDER:
President Jeff Darby, KS0JD, called to order the October, 2020, business meeting of the SFTARC at 8:00 AM. The meeting was conducted via Zoom. Jeff introduced special guest Dave Propper, who addressed the group for about 30 minutes. Dave is a candidate for ARRL Vice-Director, Midwest Division. Dave spoke about himself and about his thoughts and ideas concerning issues relevant to amateur radio and the ARRL. Dave's talk was followed by a question-and-answer session in which Dave gave responses to questions about the amateur radio bands, licensing fees, and other issues.
Members gave their call signs. Along with guest Dave Propper, a total of 18 members joined this Zoom meeting.
SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:
Marty Peters, KE0PEZ, reported the club's bank account balance. Deposits since the September business meeting totaled $22 for one individual membership and a $2 donation received in a QSL card. There were no disbursements. The Mo-Kan Council still has not cashed our club's membership check. The repeater fund balance remains the same as last month. The club now has 74 members in good standing. We welcome new member David McKinny. The financial condition of the club continues to be good.
Ensor Park & Museum [Howard - N0AZ]
Howard was busy with an auction at the Ensor Park & Museum and not able to join the Zoom meeting. Things continue to go smoothly at Ensor. The dipole antenna has been repaired and the W9BSP-W9UA station is on the air.
Repeater Relocation [Jim Andera – K0NK]
Jim reported that the repeater committee met and considered various options. The search to find good location(s) for the repeaters continues.
Web Hosting [Greg Wolfe – KI0KK]
The new HostGator site continues to function well. Greg successfully backed up the site and stored a copy off site.
SFTARC Ham Class 2021 [Jeff - KS0JD]
The present plan calls for a hybrid Technician class with a total of eight 3-hour sessions starting on the second Saturday in January. Most sessions would be virtual via Zoom. A few would be in-person, including the initial session in order to distribute the books. Registration will be limited to about 20 students, who must live locally.
OTHER BUSINESS:
There was no other business this month.
ADJOURN:
Following a motion and a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned shortly before 9 AM.
