MEETING TO ORDER:

President Jeff Darby, KS0JD, convened a Zoom videoconference of the SFTARC shortly after 8 AM. A total of 17 members joined the meeting.

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:

Marty Peters KE0PEZ reported the club's bank account balance and the receipts ($50) and disbursements ($20) since the April business meeting. The receipts consisted of dues payments from two members. The one disbursement was to pay 2020 dues for the MO-KAN Council. He outlined anticipated expenditures in May and June. There are now 67 members in good standing. The financial condition of the club continues to be good.

WW1USA event [Del K0DDS]

A potential source of COVID-19 contagion arose at the Antenna Ranch on Friday, and it was deemed best to be safe rather than sorry. The WW1USA event was cancelled.

2020 Field Day Activities [Jeff KS0JD]

The ARRL has not changed the FD rules for 2020. There was much discussion of options. It appears that the Mahaffie House Property will be opening soon, which suggests that the City of Olathe would not have any reason not to OK the use of the Ensor grounds for FD activity. Howard will be checking with Marty Boehm at the City of Olathe to confirm. Tom WA2IVD suggested simulating an emergency taking place during a pandemic, when operators must follow all rules and guidelines covering separation and protective wear. There were a number of other suggestions: put up only 2 simple antennas that do not require teamwork to erect; a vertical can be set up by one person; keep everything simple; document arrival and departure of all persons who participate; take abundant video of the event for possible use in promotional material; use disposable earphone covers; dispense with the cafeteria-style food service that we have used in past years and have Tony produce custom-order individual packages (as he does for his regular food-truck catering). Another possibility was to not hold an in-person event at Ensor but to have individual members operate their home stations (under home call sign) on emergency power. The ARRL will not award points in that case, but individuals may report their home club on logs that they submit.

2020 Season of the Ensor Park & Museum

Traditionally, the SFTARC provides tour guides for the museum in June. However, the museum schedule for 2020 is uncertain. Howard N0AZ will call Marty Boehm to get an update on the status of the coming season. If needed, Howard will implement a Sign-up Genius web page to assist with the process of coordinating volunteers.

Repeater Relocation [Jim Andera – K0NK]

There is no update on the repeater status. Jim will approach OMC when it is appropriate to do so.

Club Newsletter [Greg Wolfe – KI0KK]

Newsletter inputs are due by 7PM Wednesday, May 13.
