MEETING TO ORDER:
The President, Jeff Darby KE0CAZ, called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM. Attendees introduced themselves by name and call-sign. A total of 21 club members and 3 guests were present.
SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:
The Secretary-Treasurer Report was given by Marty Peters KE0PEZ. He reported the checking account balance. The amount of club revenue since the August meeting was $1,020. There were no disbursements. Revenue consisted of a dues payment from new member Ed Kern and an anonymous donation of $1,000 to be specifically used to pay for expenses associated with getting our club-sponsored repeaters back on the air. On behalf of the club, I would like to express sincere appreciation to this donor for their generous support of the club repeaters.
(Marty paid the annual premium of $223.68 to ARRL Risk Strategies on September 9 for equipment insurance. This amount will be shown on the Treasurer's report at the October meeting.)

Club Newsletter [Greg Wolfe – KI0KK]
Newsletter inputs are due by 7PM Wednesday, September 11.
Kansas QSO Party
On August 24th and 25th, there was a lot of activity at Del’s Radio Park in Edgerton; it was a good place to operate with many contacts made. George WB0CNK and Marty worked CW at George's QTH. Other operators at different QTHs were also making CW contacts. We must take care to coordinate so that different operators do not use the club callsign on the same band at the same time.
Repeater issues
Each of the three repeaters is now operating at the QTH of the owner, two of which are in De Soto. The owners have indicated that the repeaters are either already in service or soon to be in service. We must continue to discuss the future of the repeaters. President Darby asked club members to consider how the club should support the repeaters if they are not operated in Olathe.
Location of future breakfast meetings
President Darby reviewed the pros and cons of the five locations that have been tried so far. Ralph N0KC expressed the desirability of choosing a meeting room that would conveniently allow audio/visual presentation to be made. The lack of this capability has lately impeded our club's technical and educational communications.
Jeff will set up a web-based voting system and club members will choose among the five candidate meeting locations.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Tom Apalanek WA2IVD recently donated a power cable to the club that will allow the generator to be moved farther away from the operating stations during our Field Day and other events. This will greatly ease the noise pollution from the generator. Thank you Tom!
Jim Andera K0NK reported that the weather during the Hollenberg Pony Express Station special event was GREAT. It turned out to be a tremendous event with CW radio contacts but more importantly lots of interaction with the visitors who were seeing first-hand what communication was like in a bygone era.
Jim asked if the club should consider adding a Fall special event to our present annual schedule that includes Kansas Day in January, Field Day in June, WW1USA in July, and Kansas QSO Party in August. One possibility would be to participate in the William Becknell Heritage Days special event in September, which commemorates the opening of the Santa Fe Trail in 1821. Before taking on any such participation, a suitable number of club members would need to be available to operate during the events.
ADJOURN:
After a motion, a second, and a unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.
