Meeting Notes (December 2, 2017)

MEETING TO ORDER:

The President, Greg Wolfe KI0KK, called the meeting to order. Introductions of attendees were made by name and call-sign.

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT:

Secretary/Treasurer Mike Costello KBØISQ reported the bank balance and that two checks had been written but not distributed yet. Dues are payable now thru the end of February and eleven members paid at the meeting.

A Thank You note was received from Ron Cowan , the last presenter at Tech Night, thanking us for having him come and present information about ham activity in the region.

OLD BUSINESS:

Christmas party for the club will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Gardner at 128 Park St., Gardner, Ks. Jim Cessna has put together a list of those signed up for the pot luck dinner and what they are bringing, which has been emailed to those planning on attending.. Over 30 members, spouses and children have signed up.

TRAILER REPORT

No member of the club expressed an interest in the Predator 4kw generator the club has for sale so it has been placed on Larry’s List to see if there is any interest there.

WEB SITE

Web site is up in development mode at “dev3.sftarc.org”, all functions appear to be operational and migration to the “sftarc.org” URL should happen in mid January.

TECH NIGHT

No Tech Night in December, it will be the Christmas Party instead. Whether to continue Tech Night on its current monthly schedule or change to quarterly session was brought up  but no decision was made. The low attendance at most of the Tech Nights this year is the reason for discussing the change.

CW & Technician Classes 

Classes will start on January 6, 2018. The location has been changed to the Salvation Army center on Santa Fe in Olathe. CW class is from 8:30 to 9:45 and Technician license classes from 10:00 to 12:30. CW class is free to SFTARC members and $5.00 for others. Technician classes are $15.00 for those 16 and under and $30.00 for others, includes Technician manual.

NEW BUSINESS:

WW1USA for 2018.

Discussion was; do we want to sponsor an event next year? It was decided we shall try to secure the event on May 12 – 13 – Commemorating the Battle of Cantigny. 2018 will be the end of the events at the WW1 Museum in remembrance of the events of WW1. (Note: May date has been secured)

KANSAS DAY

Do we want to participate and who will be the coordinator? Yes we will set up at Del’s KØDDS shack on January 27th. Hours will be announced later.
