WW1USA July Special Event

WW1USA July Special Event

Santa Fe Trails Amateur Radio Club hosted the Special Event station WW1USA at the WW1 Museum and Memorial this past weekend (July 23-24). It was a great success despite losing about six hour of operation due to a water main break. The museum was forced to close at 3:00pm on Saturday because it was deemed unsafe to the patrons.

We got back to operating at 9:00am on Sunday and were pleased to see Joel WU8Y who traveled from Michigan to operate. A total of 20 hams operated during the two days, at least 7 were members. Jim KE0GEY who Jim K0NK is Elmering was the youngest at 11 years old.

All time slots were covered and apologies to anyone who was scheduled during the shutdown.

Band conditions were pretty rough both days but we made a total of 515 contacts during the two days. SSB accounted for 411, 57 were PSK and 47 CW. Contacts were made on 10meters, 17 meters, 20 meters and 40 meters with 20 accounting for 374 contacts.

Thanks to Herb N0ZF and everyone at the museum who were so welcoming.
