Presidents Corner - October 2017

Greg KI0KK

The club trailer has been cleaned up and repairs made as needed. The trailer is back at it's normal storage location. We have a new 2M rig donated by Joe Krout. The trailer brakes and bearings have been checked and repaired as needed, thanks Del. We have received the insurance payments and are investigating replacement generators (quiet and at least 6 Kw). Thanks again to all who worked on or donated to the clean up effort.

It's time for election of club officers at the November meeting. Please provide your nominations to club SEC/TREAS Mike Costello prior to the November meeting.  Please insure that you have written acceptance from the individual you nominate.

Our club web site "sftarc.org" will be moving to a new server and web CMS system this fall. Please check out the development/test site for the new web site at "dev3.sftarc.org", suggestions are welcome and needed. The new format should be much easier to see on mobile devices. The new site is about 90% complete with just pictures, afew articles and web links need to be added. Please login to the new web site and make sure your passwords work before we migrate later this year? Once migrated the new site will to the main URL "sftarc.org".

Tech Night will be held on October 20 at the New Century Fire Station. The subject for this months presentation will be "Trouble Shooting Methods and Tools" by Greg Wolfe, KI0KK. I will also do a short demo on the new web site at Tech Night, Publishing Articles". Check the club calendar for details. Tech Night presenters are encouraged to provide an article for our newsletter.

If you have a topic you wish to write about or find an interesting topic please publish it either in the newsletter area or Tech Blog on the web site. We can also list web links on the website if you find ones that are useful. Please contribute, there is nothing worst than a stale web site that never has anything new.

Read the Meeting Notes in this newsletter for more details on these and other subjects.

October and November are busy months for Hamfests, check out the calendar for dates.

See you at our November 4th meeting at Perkins in Olathe.
