OTHER BUSINESS:
Jim Andera reported on some things related to the trailer.
The solar panels have been mounted on top of the equipment trailer and produce about 170 mA under sunny conditions; an output of 500 mA is anticipated under the summer sun.
One of the two batteries stored in the trailer was dead, probably due to a bleeder resistor not being disconnected. Club members suggested several solutions to reduce or eliminate the current drain.
Joe Krout gave details of the Icom 7300 that is offered for sale at Associated Radio for $1099 and comes with a mail-in rebate offer of $100. The 7300 is direct conversion, same size as the 7200, and includes a built-in antenna tuner. Joe recommends purchasing a case to store the radio, such as a Pelican Case available at Harbour Freight. Members of the club discussed the radio and asked a number of questions about it.
There was a motion and a second to buy an Icom 7300 at Associated Radio and a Pelican case. President Jeff called a vote, and the motion passed unanimously.
Jim Andera asked if any club members were interested in participating in a Tallgrass Prairie operating event in mid-April. While overnight camping is prohibited, Jim suggested the possibility of operating throughout the night for those who just can't stop calling CQ. The event would enhance the public presence of our club.
ADJOURN:
After a motion, a second, and a unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.
